Nostalgia Sunday: McDonald's Happy Meals

mcdonald's happy meal

I'm sure all of us have, at one point or another, had a McDonald's Happy Meal and McLoved it. For me, this was in the noughties and was what I would get every single time I went to McDonald's (can't remember at what age I stopped getting them). But I'm not here to speak to you about the food inside these meals, as they were essentially smaller versions of their normal menu. Today I want to speak to you about the little toys you would get inside these Happy Meals. So, let's look into what toys were inside McDonald's Happy Meals in the noughties...

Bear in the Big Blue House

(Yes, that is the toy I got from McDonald's back in 2002 that I still have - can't decide whether that's weird or not). As this came out in 2002, I don't remember actually getting it (I was only two years old at the time so why would I remember?). However, I can remember absolutely loving this toy and would constantly carry it around with me.

The Incredibles

Again, I can't fully remember this toy (I was only four when it came out) and I'm not 100% sure if I did have it, but I do vaguely remember it so I may have had it, I'm not sure. I have a feeling I used to play with this, but I definitely don't have it anymore.

Cars

I'm also not sure whether we had this or not because I can remember having Cars toys, but I don't know whether they were from a McDonald's Happy Meal or not. But I do remember we had this toy and one thing I'm annoyed about that I have only just found out was that the other Cars toys had a hole underneath them that this toy could tow them with and I'm really annoyed I never knew that so couldn't take full advantage of this toy while I had it.

101 Dalmations

So apparently these are from the nineties, yet I was definitely playing with these in the noughties so I have no idea where I got them from? Maybe I'm actually a nineties baby and my entire life has been a lie. I mean I'm sure that's not the case, but it's a possibility. Then again, I did have these at my Gran's house, so maybe my cousins had them and left them there, but whether these were from McDonald's or not I'm not entirely sure.

Care Bears

I'm not entirely sure how much it shows up on the photo, but you can definitely tell this toy was well-loved because of how grubby it is (on the top of the head). I swear I used to carry this around everywhere with me and it was probably my favourite McDonald's Happy Meal toy.

Hotel for Dogs

I'm not 100% sure these toys were a part of the Hotel for Dogs range as the year adds up (on the label it says 2009 and Dreamworks), but when I did a little Google of this range, all of the dogs had scarves on them, which these two don't. Of course, I could have just removed the scarves, but going by my memory, I don't actually remember them ever having scarves on. But regardless, I still remember really loving these toys and I still have them today.

So those were the McDonald's Happy Meals toys I can remember having as a child in the noughties. Do you remember having any of these? Can you remember any other McDonald's Happy Meals toys that were around in the noughties? Let me know in the comments below, along with any other suggestions you have for any more Nostalgia Sunday topics you would like me to cover.

What McDonald's Happy Meals toys were popular when you were a child?
